Ακολουθεί κριτική της συναυλίας από το ημερολόγιο του Ed O' Brien καθώς και από ακροατή για το site FMA: ^
Από το ημερολόγιο του Ed:
"barcelona and last night's show in frejus were immense......barca started
a little weirdly with us and the audience getting used to the teatro
tivoli, the most un-rock'n roll of venues(extremely ornate
however).......eveyone stayed pinned to their seats until we returned for
an encore. our day off in barca consisted of eating and drinking vast
amounts, broken up by a two hour siesta...ideal....."

It was a fantastic show, despite some major technical problems. The keyboard used in Exit Music wasn't working, meaning they had to abandon Planet Telex and play a couple songs differently--Jonny played the Rhodes during Exit Music (which gave it quite a different, but surprisingly cool) feeling, and improvised on guitar during the "rain down" part of Paranoid. And the band did look a little rusty, fucking up a little during TSHost and MILung. But...Airbag and Just have never sounded better. Thom introduced the former by saying it was like "one of those adverts" where the beautiful car promises you a nice house, beautiful wife and great sex. When someone in the audience said something, he deadpanned "how do i know? because i have all these things." After the laughter, he grunted "rock!" into the mic and they launched into it. Very cool. The new songs sounded awesome. My favorites were definitely "how to disappear" and "egyptian song" but that could be b/c those are the only ones i'd heard before. "how to disappear" sounds like it did in radio city (fucking great) except with more effects, jonny playing that new instrument that sits atop his keyboards. "egyptian song" was tops too. thom introduced it by saying "i know 3 chords on the piano..."; he played the piano at the front of the stage, colin played an upright bass and they had a strobe light going. thom wails at the beginning which i guess sounds kind of "egyptian". the rest of the band came in halfway thru; phil's drumming is all cut-up, like airbag i suppose, and sounds awesome. his drumming is like that on a lot of the new songs.of the truely new songs, "optimistic" is the catchiest. the chorus is "do the best you can / do the best you can / the best you can is good enough". oddly, it is kind of an upbeat song.they also played knives out ("this song's about cannabalism"), morning bell, national anthem (i think) and everything in its right place. they all sounded really good - loud and exciting. the band looked like they were having a lot of fun when they played each of the new songs.oh, the interesting thing was that during "everything...", jonny sampled thom's vocals and then played them back, so at the end of the song, while jonny was still doing that, thom finished playing keyboards and came to the front of the stage, sat down and just started looking at the audience. then, he got down into the audience and started walking up the center aisle. at first i don't think he knew what he was doing and i think people were kind of shocked, but before long all the idiots started trying to touch him and he had to break into a full-out sprint up the aisle to get out of the theatre. the band kept playing for a couple minutes longer. security looked pissed; jonny and ed looked amused. (thom might have been drunk) that was the last song of the regular show. then they encored with just, egyptian, lurgee and paranoid. people stayed cheering for a good 5 minutes after that but they wouldn't come back out.i gotta say that after i heard ok computer i didn't think the band could ever do anything to top it but now i'm starting to see how they could. the new stuff all sounds very experimental, with a lot more weird effects and more uncontrolled jamming (and less tightly-knit songs). like colin said, of the old material TSH and Airbag definitely fit the best with the new material. songs like fake plastic, SHA and no surprises don't fit well (although they played the last one anyway). can't wait to hear the new lp. as good as it sounded live, it probably sounds awesome on disc. in terms of experimentation, i'd guess it'll make OKC sound pretty tame.
