Texas Hold’ em
Do you like playing Poker???
It’s a game that needs many “experience points” and learning it can cost you a lot of money..at least in your first steps.. Though it’s an easy game to learn but difficult to master!
I decided to write some basic staff for this game.
The inspiration came from an article in a greek website. So, i started digging around the net to find as many information as i can and i thought it would be a nice idea to share them with you!
So, let’s see!
First of all, in texas hold’em each player can hold only two cards. Five cards are opening on the table so the players can then make combinations (up to 5 cards) between the cards they are holding and the cards on the table. Then, players compare their hands against each other to determine who wins (that is the best combination). easy enough! don’t you think?
The best practice for learning how to play is to start practicing with people that know how to play the game very well. You are not going to win (for sure!) but watching them playing will help a lot. If you want to win, you should choose a table in which players are worse than you. In that case, you can take advantage of their mistakes!!
Now let’s take a look at the Rank of Hands. As i said above you make combinations between your two cards and three of the cards on the table. If you can make more than one combination, you choose the best to keep. The following list is the hands in texas hold’em from best to worst, so any hand on the list beats any hand below it and loses to any hand above it.
Rank of Hands
Royal Flush - An Ace-High straight of one suit.
Straight Flush - A straight of the same suit
Four of a Kind (known as Quads) - Four cards of the same rank
Full House - Three of a kind and a Pair
Flush - Five cards of the same suit
Straight - Five cards of sequential rank.
Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank
Two Pair - Two cards of the same rank and another two cards of the same rank.
One Pair - Two cards of the same rank
High Card - The last one of the list. Your highest card determines your hand.
And I left something good and unbelievable to happen for the finale :
Enjoy! and start playing!!
